Also known as Mirador del Castillo de la Granadella
The road to Granadella drops through the pines in long bends, and this mirador is on one of them, about 100 m above the water. The entire cove is below you: the pebble beach, the turquoise shallows, the dark deep water beyond, and the two headlands that close it, the Punta d'Ambolo to the north and the Morro del Castell to the south.
On that southern headland stand the ruins of the Castell de la Granadella, a small coastal battery built to guard the cove against raiders from the sea; it once held a garrison of a few men and a pair of bronze cannon. A footpath leads out to it from the beach. Granadella is the launch point of our most popular kayak tour, so from here you may well see our groups heading for the caves.
