A cross has stood at this crossroads on the Portitxol hill for generations, and it marks the middle of the route. The pines have grown tall around it, so the view of the Illa del Portitxol comes in glimpses between the trunks rather than as one panorama, but the place has a different value: it is the trailhead.
From the cross one marked path leads out along the ridge to the tip of Cap Prim, the finest short walk in Jávea, and another drops down to Cala Barraca and its fishermen's huts. Leave the bikes here for an hour if you have the time. Our Portitxol kayak tour launches from the cove below.
