Javea is home to some of the most beautiful and serene beaches in all of Spain. With crystal-clear waters and fine, golden sand, these beaches are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Many of the beaches in Javea are tucked away in secluded bays, surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation, making them ideal for those seeking a more intimate and peaceful beach experience. In addition to their natural beauty, these beaches are also home to a wide variety of wildlife, including birds and marine life. Overall, the beaches in Javea are a must-see attraction and are considered some of the best not only on the Costa Blanca, but in the entire country. Here are some of our favorites:
Cala en Calo is a secluded beach located on the southern part of Javea between Cala Granadella and Cala Ambolo. It has crystal-clear waters and offers snorkelling opportunities through an incredible underwater sea cave with multiple tunnels below the surface.
These tunnels allow sunlight from underwater to penetrate the cave and create an incredible turquoise blue colour inside!
Cala en Calo is a less crowded and peaceful beach due to its exclusivity and inaccessibility by land. It is a great destination for relaxation and adventure.
Cala Ambolo is a beautiful and exclusive beach in proximity to Cala en Calo. It has a unique combination of white sand and pebbles and is only accessible in limited summer months. Cala Ambolo is a great destination for couples and offers tranquil surroundings and crystal-clear waters for snorkelling. It is also one of the few nudist beaches on the Costa Blanca. In my honest opinion, it is one of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca
Cala Granadella is a popular and beautiful beach located on the southernmost part of Javea. It has crystal clear turquoise waters that are popular with families and is often voted the most beautiful beach in Spain.
Cala Granadella is a great destination for swimming, sunbathing, and soaking in the stunning surroundings of steep cliffs and beautiful natural vegetation!
Cala Portixol is a popular and beautiful beach located on the eastern part of Javea with stunning surroundings and abundant marine life. It is home to the Isla del Portixol and offers something for everyone, including snorkelling opportunities with clear waters and large underwater structures hosting a wealth of marine life. It is also home to the picturesque blue-doored fishermen houses (also called “barracas”) that have taken social media by storm!
Javea's Historic Centre is a charming area characterized by Mediterranean medieval-style houses made of tosca stone and narrow streets that give it a true sea-side village feeling.
It is where the majority of the town's local population resides and was once protected by towering walls due to frequent pirate attacks. These walls are still partially intact today, adding to the historic charm of the area. Here are some of our favourite things to see in the heart of this historical center!
San Bartolomé church, also known as Sant Bartomeu, is a stunning architectural landmark located in the heart of Javea's Historic Centre. The church dates back to the 18th century and is a prime example of the Valencian Baroque style of architecture. The exterior of the church is adorned with intricate details, including carved stone decorations and ornate balconies.
Inside, the church is just as impressive, with high vaulted ceilings, beautiful frescoes, and a main altar made of marble. The church also has a number of chapels dedicated to various saints, each with its own altar and decorations.
Calle Estret is a beautiful street located in the heart of Javea's old town. It is known for its charming Mediterranean-style houses and abundance of plants and flowers. The residents of Calle Estret take great pride in the beauty of their street and can often be seen tending to the plants and flowers that adorn the houses and sidewalks.
As you walk down Calle Estret, you will be struck by the vibrant colors and fragrant scents of the plants and flowers that line the street. From flowering pots and hanging baskets to window boxes and small gardens, there is no shortage of greenery on this picturesque street.
Every Thursday, the Avenida de la Constitución in Javea hosts a local food market where you can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and other locally made goods such as honey and paintings.
This is a great opportunity to indulge in the Spanish lifestyle and support the local community. The market is the perfect place to find the freshest and most organic produce in town and is a great way to shop like the locals do. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the local culture and find some delicious and authentic products.

Montgo Natural Park is a great destination for mountain biking, with a network of trails that wind through the hills and valleys of the park. In addition to birds, Montgo Natural Park is home to a number of mammal species, including rabbits and even wild boar. These animals can often be seen in the early morning or late afternoon, as they emerge from the cover of the forest to graze. The park is also home to a number of reptile species, including snakes, lizards, and geckos. These animals can often be found basking in the sun or seeking shelter in the cool shade of the park's many trees and shrubs.
