Punta de l'Arenal
Mirador 3 of 15 · best: sunrise over the bay

Punta de l'Arenal

Sea level, on the rocky point at the south end of the Arenal beach, where the Romans salted fish and the bay opens up in front of you.

Also known as Mirador de la Punta del Arenal

Down from the plateau and back to the water. The Punta de l'Arenal is the low rocky point where Jávea's only sandy beach ends and the tosca stone shelves of the Segon Muntanyar begin. It was prime real estate two thousand years ago: a Roman villa and fish-salting works stood here, and rock pools cut into the shore nearby were nurseries where fish were kept alive until market day.

The view is the mirror image of mirador 1. The Arenal curves away to your left, Montgó rises behind the town, and across the bay the white lighthouse of the Cap de Sant Antoni marks where you started. This is also where the coastal footpath south begins, past the Séquia de la Nòria and Cala Blanca towards the Portitxol.
