A channel cut through the rock by Roman hands, later worked by a waterwheel, on the wild rock shelf south of the Arenal.
Also known as Mirador de la Séquia de la Nòria
The Segon Muntanyar is a long shelf of tosca, the honey-coloured sandstone that built half of old Jávea. Cut straight across it is the séquia: a narrow channel the Romans carved so the sea could flow into a pool where live fish were kept. Centuries later a nòria, a waterwheel, was set over it to lift the water, and the name stuck.
It is a mirador at sea level, which is exactly its charm. The rock ledges run north to the Cap de Sant Antoni and south to Cap Martí, the water in the channel is glass-clear, and on a calm morning it is one of the best places on the coast to sit with your feet in the sea.
